Make Up Revolution Haul

Life would not be complete without new Make Up Revolution products to add to my growing beauty pile. It's a known fact that once you start blogging about beauty, your make up collection starts to grow exponentially. Luckily there are brands like Make Up Revolution which are kind on the purse strings, pretty decent on the quality, and pretty awesome when it comes to coming up with product names. Here's what I picked up recently:

THE HIGHLIGHTER| Highlighter Palette - Radiant Lights Palette €10.85

These Radiance Light Illuminators are the raison d'être for this entire haul. When I came across this highlighter palette, I knew it needed to be in my collection, especially after watching one too many Tanya Burr videos and lusting after that glowy, bronzed look. I think a decent highlight was the one thing my make up collection definitely needed, and I'm looking forward to working these three gorgeous colours into my make up routine. 

THE BLUSH | Ultra Blush Palette: All About Cream €8.14

I'm yet undecided as to whether I prefer powder or cream blush, so when I saw this cream blush palette, I decided to pick it to finally answer the question. With 6 pretty pink shades, I think I've got my blush needs covered for the year, and all for under €10. 

THE EYESHADOWS | Beyond Flawless Ultra Eyeshadow Palette €10.85

With a name like Beyond Flawless, how on Earth was I supposed to pass this up? I hesitated between getting this palette and the 'Flawless' palette  which is a matte palette. Since I already have the 'Essential Mattes' palette from then, I thought the warmer, bronzer, tones of 'Beyond Flawless' would be more up my street. 

THE CONTOURING PALETTE | Euphoria Palette - Bare €8.14

I'm not sure if you can tell, but I find it very difficult to pass up Make Up Revolution palettes, and this Euphoria Palette in Bare is no exception. I love the idea of having six eyeshadows, blush, bronzer and highlight all in one place, and not having to worry about how to match them up. And the full-size mirror that comes with these sleek black palettes never disappoints. I'm not entirely sure how well the bronzer will go with my skin tone but we shall see!

THE EYEBROW KIT | Focus & Fix Eyebrow Shaping Kit - Medium/Dark €3.39

I have so much love for the Ultra Brow Arch & Shape Pen from Make Up Revolution it's not even funny. If I can't find it in the morning there is absolutely chaos. So I thought I'd pick up their powder eyebrow kit, and see how it works for me. I couldn't wait to use it, and tested as soon as the post woman had delived it, and first impression? Meh. I'm a little wary of the shades - they might have possibly needed to come out with a Dark/Darkest eyebrow palette - and I'm not sure I even like the pigmentation, but we'll have to see. I've vowed to thoroughly test out a product before giving my opinion, so I'll give this a fair go before I decide whether I like it or not. 

I also received this super cute heart, which could either be a bronzer or an eyeshadow - I'm not sure! Either way I was very pleased to find it sitting amongst the rest of my goodies and look forward to trying it out (and potentially identifying what product it actually is).

A Make Up Revolution Haul

Make Up Revolution can rightfully be described as having taken the beauty world by storm. There were only so many different reviews I could read before I had to get my hands on the products myself. What really enticed me about the brand was the high-end look of the products whilst being a tenth of the price. Having tried cheaper brands and being disappointed, when the words "super-pigmented" kept being attributed to Make Up Revolution products, I knew that I could hold back no more. So I made full use of the deal that when you spend over £40 you get European Tracked Delivery for the price of standard and did a little haul. 

Salvation Palette Colour Chaos 

When I picked this up, Halloween was around the corner, and I wanted to have a palette that had bright colours that I could work into my look, but I also wanted to have colours that I would wear again, and this 18-shade beauty refused to stay out of my cart. 

Essential Mattes 

Who doesn't need a palette named 'Essential Mattes', with 12 shades and for a bargain price of £4? I am not a shimmery shadow type of girl, especially not during the day, and mattes are surprisingly hard to find, so getting this palette was a no-brainer. It's got all the shades of neutral a girl could needs. 

Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette: Medium-Dark 

This one was another one I picked up for Halloween (I found the the lightest shades work better on my complexion for the zombie look than using a white base), but at the same time think I'm going to get a lot of use out of, as it's not always easy to find a bronzer dark enough to contour with, so the darkest colour in this palette works great for giving me those sharp cheekbones!

I Heart Makeup: I Am Naked Palette 

This one I picked up on more of a whim. It's a palette with six natural browns (three matte, three shimmery) that comes with a nude lipstick, all in a compact shape that comes with a mirror. I think what appealed to me was that it's small, easy to carry around, and with a mirror therefore perfect for touch ups or for a weekend at a friend's where you don't want to take too much with you but you want to be prepared for brunch during the day, and going out in the evening.

The One Blush Stick - Malibu 

Like the Essential Mattes Palette, when I saw this, I knew I had to have it. It's a multipurpose blush stick that you can use on your cheeks and lips, and can be applied dry or wet for a different finish. The thing about dark skin is that our natural flush isn't pink, it's more of a reddish-brown, so this is perfect for giving my face a perk and applied to the lips it's a great nude colour. I'll go into more detail when I give the individual reviews that these products deserve! 

Aqua Seal Liquid Eye Primer 

I needed an eye primer, so when I saw that this was a sealant as well (and apparently if you mix it with metallic pure pigment eye shade you get a foil effect), into my cart it went. I used this to keep my Halloween eye make up in place and was not disappointed, though I've yet to use this on my day-to-day make up (only the beauty fairies know why). 

Awesome Double Flick Thick and Thin Eyeliner in Black 

This product was aptly named, because an eyeliner that can accomodate to my changing desires for eyeliner thickness is awesome. It has a thick nib and thin nib which can be used seperately, or used together when you want a thicker line on your lid and then a thin cat flick. 

Brow Dual Ultra Brow Arch & Shape in Darkest 

Last, but most definitely not least, I picked up this brow product. I had to have it because of the promise of a super-fine felt tip. After using the Barry M Brow Pen, which became an instant favourite , I already knew that I prefer them to kohl pencils or using powder to shape my brows, but the Make Up Revolution gives you an extra little something: a waxy sort of brow pencil so you can fill in the brows you just beautifully crafted. 

More raves - I mean, reviews - about each individual products to come as I really do feel they warrant it, so be sure to keep an eye out for them! Honestly, Make Up Revolution knows what it's doing, and I know that it's a brand that I'm going to keep coming back to, whether to repurchase products or try out new ranges.

What I Picked Up In Pomelo #1

Pomelo is a shop that opened in Namur earlier this year. It sells a bit of everything, and you can find home decoration, beauty, books, stationary - you name it! I think there's even a lingerie section. It's right in front of the train station, so it's the perfect place to wander around when you're waiting for the train to see what they currently have in stock. That's why I decided to make it somewhat of a feature, because this is most definitely not the last time I pick up a few things.

I was drawn to the aesthetics of these candles, and picked the scents White Tea and Lemongrass. I think they're from this collection. They smell amazing when you smell the candle, the White Tea a soft scent, and the Lemongrass, tangy citrus smell, almost sherbet-like smell, but when you burn them - not so much. My mum thought there was a gas leak the first time I burnt the Lemongrass and I couldn't sleep for hours after burning the White Tea. Oh well, with the news constantly mentioning the possibility of an imminent blackout in Belgium, they'll probably come in handy. I've learnt my lesson about candles. You get what you pay for (they were about €4 each, but the glass they come in more than makes up for the disappointing scents ). 

I've already mentioned this Balmi Cube Lip Balm in my September favourites - I was just so excited about it! They also do it in Raspberry which I am keen to get my hands on as I've been really enjoying its Strawberry counterpart. I was also drawn by this new brand I've been seeing appearing in shops recently: Evoluderm. Evoluderm is a French cosmetics brand that has an entire range of beauty products including skincare, haircare and essential oils.

I picked up the Rose Water Hydrating Toner as I've used a rose toner before and it did wonders for my skin. I've not yet tried it out as I'm reluctant to switch from my Yves Rocher Micellar Water, but it's something that's good to have around. I also picked up their Huile de Beauté in Carrot. My Mum has used carrot oil in the past, so I already knew it's excellent for those pesky dry patches on knees and elbows. I also want to use it on my hair after a straightening treatment mishap left me with seriously damaged hair, just to keep the moisture in the split ends. Oils are all the rage right now, and I think it's good to have a different selection for when you need to deal with different issues.

Yves Rocher Bath and Shower Haul

 

 

For those of you with an Yves Rocher near you, you will know the deal that comes with walking into your local Yves Rocher: you either buy nothing or you buy everything. When I went in, I knew I wanted to pick up my free gifts (I always get my yearly calendar, pen and phone case) and that I’d just run out of bath stuff so I wanted to stock up. Incidentally, it was Yves Rocher Bath-Shower Gel in Organic Raspberry.

So I knew I had to pick up the same in Wild Strawberry because the end of summer has caused me to cling on to the summer scents perhaps in a subconscious hope of prolonging it whilst the cold weather gathers, and nothing says summer like strawberries. This has a very sweet scent which is perfect for relaxing and leaving the bathroom smelling delicious.  

 

Then I spotted the gift sets. I knew right then and there they had to be in my bathroom. One set contained a set of the new Yves Rocher Exfoliating Shower gels (200ml) and another came with miniatures of their Bath-Shower Gels (200ml) and their matching Body Milks.

In the Exfoliating Shower Gels I got the following scents: Strawberry, Yellow Peach, and Organic Raspberry. They contain natural fruit seeds which are gentle enough to use every day, though it does warn not to apply to damaged or irritated skin. I like that it uses mostly natural ingredients (96-98% depending on the fruit), and like with their Bath-Shower Gels is pH balanced and paraben-free, which is always a plus. Not to mention the amazing fruity smells! Organic Raspberry is my favourite scent out of these and it looks amazing. I’m going to be sad when I get through it!

For my bath-shower gel and body milk miniatures I got: Yellow Peach and Organic Raspberry again, as well as Organic Vanilla. The Organic Vanilla was the reason why I really wanted this set in the first place as the full size bottles were pretty big, and I didn’t want to have to use up a scent I might not like. Plus this way, I figured that I could also get to test out the body milks. I know I really enjoy the Organic Raspberry bath gel, though from a quick sniff I’m not sure if I’ll say the same for the body milk. On the other hand, the Organic Vanilla Body Milk smells amazing so I’m excited to try it out.

I’ll be sure to let you know how I got on with these, probably in empties post as I make my way through this collection throughout the next coming months. I love an excuse for a nice long bath!
